A feeling of anger turned into something regrettable.

How does anger turn you into a different person? I once got into a heated argument with my older sister, and even today I can clearly recall the incident as if it had happened yesterday. One peaceful evening inside our house, my sister, little brother, and I were watching a show on television in our living room while our father was in the bathroom and mother was in the kitchen preparing our dinner. One moment my brother, Mamay, prodded me out of the blue like I am confused while I was too immersed in the TV program, I became irritated and I look at him and said, “What? You look like a fool and useless.” Lea, our oldest sister, overheard that and became enraged with me for my behavior towards my brother. She said, “You spoke as if you had the right to say those words.” I also became enraged with her and said, “He is the reason for what I had said.” And she replied, “Take back what you said!) But I refused to take back what I said and said with a high tone, “No!” 

She was so angry at my response to her, and she beat me using with a towel over and over again, beat me three times with a towel since she was so upset by my actions. This made me furious even more. I became agitated as a result of that, I shoved her hard against our sofa, grabbed her by the neck and shoulders, and then punched her in the arms. She undoubtedly felt pain and started crying. When my mother discovered what I had done, she shouted at me and said, “Stop it! I said stop it!” but I refused to listen to my mother. My mother proceeded to call my father, who was at the time in the bathroom. She hurriedly went to my father to the bathroom and said, “Pa! LJ is hurting his older sister!” when my Father found out what I had done, my father was very angry to what I have done to my older sister. He hurriedly went out of the bathroom, marched straight to me, and punched me in the arms, slapped me in the face, and beat me on the head. I was somewhat taken aback when I realized that my father was still hitting me, so I hugged him out of fear that he would do something to me that is much worse than a punch and a slap he did. I was begging him to stop, I was crying while hugging him and begging and said, “Sorry, Pa!” then he stops and calm down. After that incident, when we were all more composed, my father talked to me and instructed me to make amends with my sister. I did as I was instructed to do and said to my older sister, “Sorry, Te.” I was crying and felt little embarrassed that time but I truly expressed my regret for what I had done, and my sister also felt wronged and expressed regret too and calmly said, “I am so sorry too”. We are both crying and admitting of what happened. At long last, we reconciled. With that we grow even closer to each other.

It was a time when my sister and I got into a big argument, but it was also a time when I realized a valuable lesson. I learned from that experience to treat my sister with respect and with consideration, not only because she is older than me but also because she is a woman. In addition, it taught me how to develop into a better person, a better sibling, and most importantly, as a better son.  I came to the conclusion that I needed to treat my parents with greater respect and kindness, so as to my older siblings. Following that, I learnt how to control my emotions, which helped me develop into a highly understanding person.

The events of that day were terrible, and they will always be in my memories along with regret, but I can also say that it taught me a lesson and helped me come to certain realizations. I already know that I will never act in the same way again, I learned to be more respectful to my parents and siblings, as it also taught me a lesson how to admit mistake, how to apologize and not be aggressive if mad, aggression will never be an excuse to hurt someone. The realizations I got from that incident will become my inspiration to become even better as a son, brother, and as a person wholly. We are not perfect, my family and I are pleased to be together. Even when I pass away, these learnings I got from my family will remain a priceless treasure in my possession.

Go green For tomorrow: a plant tree program and hope 4 recreational activity: let's go hiking of NNCHS Grade 12

    Yesterday, we conducted an activity involving hiking and tree planting. It was very fun and memorable because it was my first time participating in that activity. It is also very tiring because we walked from the campus to the barangay of Magsaysay, specifically in Tuyawan Eco-Aqua Park. Our legs were aching, and we felt exhausted because of how many kilometers we had walked. Then, when we got to our destination, it was a very calming place. There is a lake and a lot of trees that will relax your eyes and mind. The place is so amazing to watch, watching the trees swaying, the lake that is very calming, the wind that is very fresh, and the place being very clean. After that, there is a short speech from the special guest that also participated in the activity, especially Mayor Balili and the Chief of Police in Nabunturan; I can't remember his name. The most catching line that caught my attention was the speech of Sir Raul, who said, "One tree can provide one day of oxygen for four people." It is important to plant a tree because it can help our environment, and when you plant a tree, you feel proud because you contributed to Mother Nature. Then, when all the speeches were done, we found our place to relax. I stayed in a place where there are a lot of trees. I brought a hammock and attached it to the tree. It was very relaxing. We talked about life while relaxing. We also talked about other things that were interesting to talk about. Our classmates were playing games with other sections, but we chose to stay in our place to relax. Then, someone from grade 12 media and arts invited me to do an interview. At first, I was hesitant because I had no idea about the questions and it was my first time getting interviewed. When the interview was conducted, I answered it based on my perspective. I was laughing after the interview because I was so nervous and I didn't know my answer. Then the interviewer said that they would post it on their Facebook wall, and when he said it, I felt embarrassed. Though the interviewer is my old classmate and my friend, I am still embarrassed. He also said that I was the representative in our section to do an interview. I felt embarrassed at that time, but it was also a fun and hilarious moment. After that, when it was 11 a.m., we packed our things and cleaned our waste because we were going back to the campus. Then, when we got to the campus, we slept for the entire afternoon because we were very tired. All the activities were very memorable and amazing, and I am planning to go back to that place again because I need to relax myself. I am very thankful for that experience and for the teachers who guided us in the activity.

BIOGRAPHY OF FLORA

    Flora May B. Lumantas is a student who is currently studying at Assumption College of Nabunturan. She is a grade 12 student who is taking an academic track in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand. She has maintained a consistent honor throughout her studies. She is a very passionate person; she loves writing and reading novels, and she is good at it. She is also good at editing videos and very good at directing a role play because she loves watching K-drama movies. She is also a k-pop lover, and as a Swiftie, she likes pop music.

    As an avid lover of animals, Flora May B. Lumantas has dreamed of becoming a veterinarian when she was a junior high school student. She loves taking care of animals, and she wanted to help endangered animals. When she got to senior high school, she found it difficult to choose a profession between veterinarian and medical technologist. To do that, she chose the medical technologist because she thinks it is the best option for her because taking a veterinarian is very expensive. Now she is focusing on her studies to achieve her goal of becoming a medical technologist. She is planning to study at the University of the Immaculate Conception in Davao City and Tagum Doctors College in Tagum City. Her best option is the University of the Immaculate Conception because the management has ensured that the school has the most advanced facilities to aid the learning of students along the way. There were designated laboratories for all subjects that required testing and further studies. Complete equipment and tools were readily available and will be provided during laboratory experiments. Advanced technologies were installed in audio-visual rooms. She is now focusing on her studies and pursuing her dreams.

     My name is Lord James M. Ortiz, and I'm 19 years old. I was born on December 19, 2003, in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. I'm a grade 12 student taking an academic track in the strand of humanities and social sciences at Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School. My parents are Analyn and Lebby. My mother is a housewife; she takes care of us, while my father is a driver for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). I have three siblings: two brothers and one sister. The oldest one is currently working in the province at the legislative section. He finished his studies in the course of a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Tanay, Rizal. Next, my older sister is currently working in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the administrative section; she also finished the course of Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at Tanay, Rizal. My younger brother is also a grade 12 student and taking Humanities and Social Science, and we are classmates.

    I am a very happy person, and I love to make people smile because of my humor. I'm a smart person, I'm consistent, and I love to learn something in class. I am a friendly person who is also shy to communicate with others. I think I need to improve my social and communication skills. I am a fun guy. I love playing basketball and watching the NBA on TV. INSIGHTS ABOUT THE DOLE AND LEGS SEMINAR

 The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) are conducting a seminar to the graduating students in Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School Senior High School. Participants in the DOLE's LEGS seminars will have a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities while looking for jobs, the industry they want to work in, and the career they want to follow. The purpose of the LEGS seminar program is to inform "would-be workers" on their obligations and rights at work. It aims to educate students on the application process for jobs both domestically and abroad. In addition to that, this is an aid for graduating students, workers in the formal sectors and employers as well in guiding them to address problems/ issues confronting employer-employee relationship.

About the seminar I can say that it is a very important seminar, as a graduating student this will help me to know about job and opportunities that will be good for me. It will prepare me as a future worker on work ethics, the culture of productive and decent work, and other dynamics in the workplace. I've learned through the program that finding a job is a lot like shopping in a market where companies buy the skills job seekers are selling. Self-packaging is important since making a good impression early on is important for landing a job. Knowing all of these are a great opportunity for me because it really helps me to know my rights and what should I do for the future. I also learned about the labor standards. Labor standards sets out the minimumterms, conditions and benefits of employment that employers must comply with. 

The Seminar talked also about the rights of employees and employers to achieve the aim of labor laws which is Social Justice. The seminar will help me become familiar with DOLE’s services on employment facilitation, workers protection and social security coverage for the employees. All throughout the seminar we understand the importance of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on how they care about the employee and how they give the workers the protection. Also, the Labor Education for Graduating students (LEGS) aims to give the graduating students a right direction on how to be familiar on their obligation and rights at work. 

THE MOST INTERESTING QUESTION I HAVE BEEN ASKED IN THE MOCK JOB INTERVIEW

THE DAY OF THE MOCK JOB INTERVIEW

     For me, the most interesting question that I have been asked in the interview is 'why should I hire you?'. Because it is one of the most common question, and yet difficult job interview questions. It's difficult since there are many possible answers to the question, which makes it incredibly open-ended. The interviewer wants to know if you are capable to the work of you applying for, they want to measure exactly how qualified you are for the job and what makes you a good fit for the company. Therefore, in essence, they are asking you to provide a succinct elevator pitch and market yourself as a professional.

To that question I would like to answer it in highlighting my skills and professional experience that are relevant to the position I am applying for. I would answer it calmly and honest so that they can feel what I am saying and they will know why I am qualified to that position. I would answer it like this:

"You should hire me because I'm passionate about organizing and have a track record of success in it. I take great satisfaction in my capacity for coordination, time management, and social interaction. 

I'm uniquely suited to thrive in this position because of my experience carefully monitoring inventory inflow and expertise in establishing efficient, simplified schedules. I am aware that you are looking for a candidate with a strong sense of organization and attention to detail. 

I have given my 100% effort in my past companies, and this has enabled me to recognize my capabilities and limitations.

If I channelize them further, they will bring fruitful results to me and also to your esteemed organization. If you give me a chance to work in your company I'll give my best towards the company's growth."

This response is a strong because it highlights a few key qualifications that are consistent with the job position, while also bringing up a key accomplishment that was valuable to the candidate’s last place of work. It showcase the enthusiasm for the open role by highlighting the specific qualifications that will help me excel and by once again mentioning my excitement for the opportunity.
